By default the Barracuda does not filter any social networking websites. These would typically need to be either enabled or entered in by hand by an administrator who might notice either large volumes of traffic to and from a particular website or that the company policy enforces blockage of such sites.

Well I think this all comes down to good parenting. I do not think the age of a child matters for social networking sites. I think that if 5 year old wants a social networking site, good for them. Let them get their “words of wisdom” out there. But i feel that it is the parents responsibility to put parental controls on their children's site and monitor a young child when they are on the site. This does not only include young children but middle and high school students as well. Cyber bullying is a big issue on social networking sites right now. Therefore, it is not much of an issue of age for me, but more that parents should educate and monitor what their children do on these social networking sites.

i would say that social networking sites are a great way of meeting your long lost friends whom you havent contacted from a long time but yeah adding on unknown persons always has harmful affects..it is finally upto the user how he uses those sites..it can be a bane or a boon…depending on how you use it.

Wow. What a challenge. IMHO, we librarians are not good at marketing ourselves. However, we are improving – with the help of social networking tools. So, libraries have not replaced social networking tools, nor have social networking tools replaced libraries. In fact, if you want to come to the library to use social networking tools, we have the equipment and the manpower to help you do just that. I think it's all how you spin it.

No. Social Networking sites let you get in contact with people you know and keep in touch with them. Y!A is more of a forum. People post topics (questions) and others reply (answers). Also, like forums, you can access some member's profiles and get in contact with them from there.

Actually, the movie is a somewhat unflattering look at Mark Zuckerberg. And the movie also alludes to the fact that other social networking sites already exist – it mentions MySpace and Friendster specifically.

The story really a promotion of Facebook. more a story of Mark Zuckerberg and how he created Facebook.

EDIT: Questions about whether he "stole" someone idea for Facebook are never actually resolved with But it does show how Zuckerberg screwed his best friend and just as Facebook was exploding in membership.

No – disagree. I think anyone would forsake for internet social networking ("Oh, I come out tonight, I have to chat on Facebook" going to happen).

At best, it supplements social life, making (human) contact available when physical meeting available, or practical.

At worst, though, it can increase paranoia about social status, and be used as another mechanism to attack individuals. But these effects can be countered by placing the social networking within a sensible framework; understanding that it is not a replacement for

At least some form of human interaction, rather than interaction with software in a passive mode. It just needs (like any hobby) to retain an appropriate value within a sensible life framework. A past-time, not real-time.

Loneliness is not bred by social interaction.

back then we had such a simple life style….we have all these social networking crap…like facebook, nor we had all these modern technology like SMS, Mobile phones….we just knew how to purely love someone, and all we needed was just a photo. Back then a simple photograph was such a big deal you would sleep with it and carry it with you all day in your wallet or parse. Nowadays getting to know someone is so and synthethic. You meet someone and next day they are gone.

I use social networking sites as one of the main marketing techniques for my business. a great way to generate leads and find people interested in your product. MySpace and Facebook are good, but there are other sites that are geared more for business people. Here is blog post about four sites that are hot right now and how to use them effectively to generate leads and traffic to your business.
