1) If you EVER plan to look for a job, do NOT put yourself on social networking sites in anything even vaguely resembling an unsavory situation.
2) I know it seems odd, but do not post photos of yourself breaking the law on social networking sites including Facebook.
3) Don't post racy photos of yourself on social networking sites. I've seen a child custody battle lost over that very thing.

However… depending on what you want to access:
Pidgin is an Instant Messanger that multiple chat protocols… e.g. MSN, Yahoo, FB CHat etc… and works around school/workplace proxies.
If u just wanted MSN then the Hotmail page now has a web messenger built into it.
For sites liek FB, you can try a proxy, btu the page will be static and there is nothing you can do about it… unless you use a service like LogMEIn… but beware of bandwidth with that.
