As a cell phone user, you may sometimes feel overwhelmed with all the constant changes that are made to improve cell phones; additional services and features have transformed this very popular device. Education is the key to successfully buying or arranging a contract; there are some important but basic facts, which every buyer should know, in this article.

Sometimes we delay charging as we are too busy and this often means the phone fails but leaving recharging like this isn’t a good idea. Unfortunately, this can cause many problems with your cell phone battery and could shorten the life of your battery between charges to the point where you’re charging more than you’re talking!

One easy way to extend the life of a cell phone battery is to turn off the back light or reduce the brightness just so you can see what you need to on the screen. When the phone is operational, it is constantly searching for a signal which is ok when there is good signal strength but if this is lost, it still tries to find a signal using more power and draining the cell phone battery in the process; the same way that long conversations do. When ever you use your cell phone; talking, playing games, listening to music, taking picture with the flash or surfing the Internet, it will drain the battery faster so limit these activities otherwise you may not be able to make that urgent call you need.

You will often find that wallpapers, ring tones and images that are downloaded automatically will have a charge even though this is not mentioned at the start so be aware. If you purchase one for your child, find out if you can block these features or find out if there’s a way that you as a parent can order features, but your child cannot.

People that use a cell phone regularly, arrange for a monthly plan, this is a contract over 12 or 24 months but if the phone is not going to be used regularly, a pay-per use option is probably preferable. Users who make frequent calls will undoubtedly find a contact with a set amount of minutes the better of the two options available. Most companies supply people that have contracts with them, additional features not available with basic plans which means you could have caller id or a two number phone for example.

If you travel as part of your work then ensure that roaming charges are part of the contract you decide on and be careful of those hidden costs that are only noticed after you have signed the agreement. Many contracts come with an insurance warranty for the phone because it is easy to loose or damage a phone that is carried with you everywhere. You will have the assurance that it is replaced should anything untoward happen.

You also want to make sure that the parts and accessories are easily obtained from any regular cell phone store, even if you purchase the phone from an Internet based company.
